Chapungu Tented Camp : Thornybush Game Reserve : South Africa
Chapungu Tented Camp
Location
The camp is situated in the Thorny Bush Game Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National park.
Accommodation and facilities
Tastefully furnished in old world colonial splendor, in a style and class of a bygone era lie eight luxury en-suite tents, accommodating 16 guests all with overhead ceiling fans and air-conditioners.
The lodge also has a rock pool, curio shop, boma and dining area with wine cellar for exclusive use by our guests.
Activities and game viewing
At all our lodges, we offer open Land Rover game drives accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers who will share their knowledge of the bush with you. These drives are undertaken at times best suited for game viewing which vary depending on the season.
Guests are offered walks to suit their interests and fitness levels accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker. Walks allow guests a better chance to see some of the smaller creatures of the bush as well as an opportunity to learn more about the flora and fauna of the region.
Boma Dinners are an occassion and an opportunity to select a bottle from our stock of fine wines and to savour our finest fare around a log fire as you recount the day's game experiences before retiring to the lounge for a night cap, or the comfort of your tent.
Imagine drifting soundlessly in the crisp morning air while below you herds of elephant and other game move across the landscape. Early morning balloon excursions are offered at all the Thornybush Game Reserve Lodges instead of a game drive. They are subject to availability and weather conditions.
Scenic helicopter trips into the nearby Drakensberg mountain range can easily be arranged at one of the Thornybush lodges reception or with your ranger. It offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in South Africa and can include a picnic on top of the escarpment.
