Location

It is situated on the Sand River at the very heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. This reserve in turn forms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a vast and growing area, currently covering 6 million acres and incorporating the famous Kruger National Park. This rich wild wonderland assures exceptional game drives and a true wilderness experience.

Accommodation and facilities

Pioneer Camp is steeped in the early history of Londolozi. It was here that over eighty years ago the Varty ancestors arrived after three days of hard travel by rail, wagon and on foot, and pitched their tents in the falling light. They awoke in an illuminated landscape of breathtaking beauty. Unique, peaceful and remote, this wild untrammelled wilderness is still the defining experience at Pioneer Camp.

A 500-year old Riverine forest throws dappled light on the six private sanctuaries and provides a dramatic backdrop for the camp's celebration of the past.

The interior conjures old English indulgence with an African twist. The colonial influences are evident in the elegant cream interiors, silver teapots at high tea and Portmeirion crockery.

Great sanctuaries are themed with historic memorabilia, telling a story of a bygone era and furnishing an environment of leisurely indulgence.

Activities and game viewing

Known for its prolific wildlife, Londolozi lies in the heart of the world-renowned Sabi Sand Reserve, in South Africa.

The Sabi Sand Reserve gets its name from the perennial Sabi Sand River and the area is renowned for its diversity and concentration of big game. The region features broad, open savannahs interspersed with acacia thornveld, rocky outcrops and riverine forest. This diverse habitat boasts an incredible array of wildlife, including the big five.

Herds of buffalo and elephant, large prides of lion, majestic leopards and numerous antelope species call the Sabi Sand Reserve home. From the luxury of Londolozi's exquisite lodges, guests can enjoy superb game viewing, either from the back of a game drive vehicle, on a walking safari or from the balcony of a private suite.
