Phinda Zuka Lodge lies within the 22 000 hectares/54 362 acres of Phinda Private Game Reserve, in the Maputaland region of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Phinda neighbours the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park – a World Heritage Site - to the east and is only 30km/19 miles due west of the white-fringed beaches of the Indian Ocean.
Accommodation and facilities
Just four thatched Zululand bush cottages set 15 metres (50 feet) apart, featuring verandas overlooking a busy waterhole. Sitting areas feature built-in sofas which double as beds for parents travelling with children 5 years and younger. Air-conditioned bedrooms have fans and ensuite bathrooms, with a circular stone bath chamber, double showers, separate w.c and twin hand basins.
Guest areas include an interactive café-style kitchen, intimate library with Internet access, and swimming pool with extended deck overlooking the waterhole where a diversity of wildlife is regularly seen. Deep verandas feature comfortable armchairs overlooking the waterhole.
Activities and game viewing
Tailormake your day by discussing your safari activities with your private ranger. Activities include twice-daily game-drives in open safari vehicles, bush walks, excellent birding and riverboat cruises and canoeing along the Mzinene River.
Optional Phinda Adventures, at additional cost, include breathtaking coastal flights, beach excursions including snorkelling and scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, turtle viewing, horse riding and cultural visits.
